WORTON — Chesapeake CNC Manufacturing Center Inc. held a grand opening and open house Friday, April 25 for its new facility.
Chesapeake CNC Manufacturing, winner of the Kent County Chamber of Commerce 2011 Outstanding Business of the Year Award, is a company focusing on the precision manufacturing of small parts. After more than 10 years in business, it has expanded operations for a second time to 25498 Mary Morris Road in Worton.
The new facility more than doubles the available output for the production of tight tolerance machined parts, according to a news release from the Chamber of Commerce. It houses seven Star CNC Swiss lathes, work-in-process staging areas, a quality control department, shipping and receiving dock and administrative offices.
On hand for the ribbon-cutting were special guests Del. Jay Jacobs and Kent County commissioners Ron Fithian and Bill Short, as well as Bernadette Bowman, director of the county’s tourism and economic offices, and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Loretta Lodge. Bob Jacob, owner of Chesapeake CNC Manufacturing, received a General Assembly citation from Del. Jacobs in recognition of the grand opening and open house at the company’s new location.
